RICHMOND JETS MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION 2018/19 AWARDS

 

ATOM "C" PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD
This annual award is awarded to a second year Atom ‘C’ player demonstrating dedication to the game, playing to the best of his ability, team play, good sportsmanship, leadership, and the earned respect of teammates.

ATOM “A” - FRED DESROCHERS TROPHY
This annual award was donated in 2002 by Fred DesRochers, who is a RMHA Life Member, was a coach, divisional manager, and President in the 1970’s and 80’s. After leaving RMHA, he was owner of the Richmond Sockeyes. This award is given to the Atom Rep player who developed most and contributed most to their team.

PEEWEE “A” - RCMP TROPHY - JIMMY NG AWARD
This annual award was donated in 2002 by the RCMP in memory of their deceased colleague JIMMY NG. It is awarded to the PeeWee“A” player who best exemplifies team play, leadership, and value to the team.

This annual award is awarded to a second year PeeWee ‘C’ player demonstrating dedication to the game, playing to the best of his ability, team play, good sportsmanship, leadership, and the earned respect of teammates.

BANTAM "A" PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD
This annual award is awarded to a second year Bantam player demonstrating dedication to the game, playing to the best of his ability, team play, good sportsmanship, leadership, and the earned respect of teammates.

BANTAM "C" PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD
This annual award is awarded to a second year Bantam ‘C’ player demonstrating dedication to the game, playing to the best of his ability, team play, good sportsmanship, leadership, and the earned respect of teammates.
NATHAN CHU


NOAH YELIZAROV MEMORIAL TROPHY
Noah Yelizarov played hockey for RMHA from Novice to Juvenile. In 2004, at age 18, he died tragically in an accident in Thailand while touring with his friends. Noah loved playing hockey, especially being a goalie. This award is given to a deserving graduating Midget player, with first choice going to a goalie.

MIDGET "C" PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD
This annual award is awarded to a third year Midget player demonstrating dedication to the game, playing to the best of his ability, team play, good sportsmanship, leadership, and the earned respect of teammates.

JUVENILE “A” - LORNE WILLIAMS TROPHY
This annual award is dedicated in the memory of Lorne Williams, former goalie of the Winnipeg Monarchs, was part owner and general manager of the Sockeyes when they won two Provincial Junior A Championships. He died in an industrial accident Saturday, June 21, 1997. This award is given to the player who contributed most to a Juvenile rep team during the most recent season

T.K. MEMORIAL AWARD
Third year Juvenile aged players are eligible for nomination. Criteria for nomination shall be a Player with dedication to the game, playing to the best of their ability, team play, good sportsmanship, the earned respect of teammates and leadership. Coaches may nominate two players per Juvenile team This award is in memory of Terry Kelly who died in 1998. Terry Kelly was the son of Shirley Kelly and stepson of Lorne Williams. He played for RMHA through Juvenile and then in the Seafair Industrial League.

LORNE FRAME MEMORIAL AWARD - Hockey Player of the Year
To be eligible for nomination, the Player must be a third year Midget Player. The Player should be maintaining a minimum “C” scholastic grade average in school and have not received more than three (3) suspensions since September 1 of the Award season under consideration. Criteria for nomination shall be Player dedication to the game, playing to the best of one’s ability, team play, good sportsmanship, the earned respect of teammates, and leadership. Coaches may nominate two Players per Midget Team. Lorne Frame was one of the founding members of RMHA, and registrar of RMHA for four years. He passed away suddenly on March 5, 1973 at age 55. Lorne was a strong booster of all divisions and put great emphasis on sportsmanship. After his death, a a large trophy case at Minoru was donated to the City in his name.

This trophy is awarded to the player registered with RJMHA who contributes time and effort back into the Association. Bruce Allison was a former RMHA President and a President of PCAHA

MEL PARK AWARD
This award is given to an on-ice official who best exemplifies excellence in officiating and who displays the capability and desire to further his/her officiating skills. Mel Park was killed in an industrial accident December 5, 1975 at age 47. He was Division Manager for the eight-team Bantam Division that year.

EXCELLENCE IN OFFICIATING AWARD
This award is presented to the on-ice official who best exemplifies excellence in officiating. The criteria are for outstanding service and competence as an on-ice official, dependability and dedication to maintaining the standards of officiating. Nominations are accepted from the Referee-in-Chief, referee assignors, coaches and players.

ROOKIE OFFICIAL OF THE YEAR
This award is to that rookie referee who best exemplifies excellence in refereeing. Criteria are competence, dependability, and dedication to refereeing. Nominations are accepted from the Head Referee, referee assignors, coaches and players.

BOB O’BARA MEMORIAL AWARD
This trophy is awarded annually to an adult who has contributed far and beyond the anticipated levels of time, devotion and loyalty to the improvement of hockey in the Richmond Jets Minor Hockey Association. Bob O’Bara was an assistant coach and Member-at-Large on Board of Directors for RMHA He died on the way home from a Vancouver Canucks game in 1974 when his son was 10 years old.
